Pictures etc...

For those of you who haven't heard, we found an apartment! While Nate was at work one day, I went exploring along the coast looking for places with good views,(why wake up on an island everyday and not be able to see the ocean right?) I came across an apartment building and pulled in but didn't see an office so I was about to leave when I caught a glimpse of their view through a corridor. So, I got out and the opening led right onto this HUGE deck with a pool, hottub, gazebos, and a breathtaking view of the water. I saw an open door and then a lady popped out with her broom so I went over and asked if she knew if any units were up for rent. Turned out she was the landlord and she was getting that apartment ready to rent. So, we are moving in Saturday and are super excited! -Click on the pic above and the red star on the bottom is where we will be. (and Mouse wanted to point out West Bay and Seven Mile Beach) -Below is an arial from Google Earth, start from the center and go two buildings right, our apartment opens right next to the pool.

Church

Here is our church building. There are two on the island. We have about 60 for attendence each Sunday at the George Town coC. The church in West Bay is rumored to be larger, but after two drive arounds in West Bay, we have yet to spot it. Our church will have a Gospel meeting the 1st week of November. It goes from Sun. to Thur. and we will have a preacher from Alabama in to speak. There is a good mix of people as far as age and race go. They've been very friendly and welcoming to us. Today we drove by what is called "Hell" in the center of West Bay, which is a field of lava rock jutting up from the ground alot like Mileficent's Castle in Sleeping Beauty. -Nate

We have a car!

Backwards as it may be, we are happy to have it. It's a '98 civic, guaranteed to have been imported post Ivan, which we've learned is important so that you know it hasn't been flooded. It was interesting because our rental car was a steering on the left car, and we were switching back and forth between them for a bit. The guy we bought it from said he had a court hearing that day for robbery....but turned out he was the cop....I was glad.

Yay! We're here!

-Sunshine Suites
Hello all! We miss you! We are finally here and settling in. Nate and I were nothing but nerves the week before we left Oklahoma, but as soon as we got here they went away. It is so peaceful here and everyone is very helpful and friendly. We're staying the first two weeks at the Sunshine Suites. It's a really awesome place that everyone on the island knows. We are right next to the pool and outdoor restaurant where we get complementary breakfast every morning. Seven mile beach is just across the street. The first couple days we had perfect weather and the last few have been pretty rainy.

BRITTISH DRIVING- roundabouts, KEEP LEFT!!!, which side is your steering wheel on?
Unless you've done it, it's hard to explain...it's like being right handed your whole life and then someone says you can't be right handed anymore, you have to eat, write, put your make-up on, brush your teeth, all with your left hand now.....and if you forget, and use your right hand....well, let's just say it's not pretty (not that I'm admitting I've forgotten, I'm just saying).
-Rum Point
This is one of my favorite places so far, it's just beautiful
-Sunset, Seven Mile Beach
We have walked this beach a few times. The beach is pristine white and everytime we've been, there are very few people compared with the beaches in Hawaii.
There are lots of design firms on the island, much to my surprise. I went looking for my portfolio last night in our boxes and had no luck. I think it must be in a box at home that I had intended to bring but couldn't. Maybe my sweet sister will find it and send it to me? ;) Robin was such a help to us, I could never have been ready to move so fast without her help!
More to come soon, God bless
